1. Overview

HuxNovel is a novel reading and publishing platform. HuxNovel was previously known as NoveluX; the app, service, and the team responsible for your data are the same. This policy applies to all HuxNovel products, including the HuxNovel apps for Android and iOS, our website, and the author and editorial dashboards.

HuxNovel is responsible for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us at any time at privacy@novelux.app.

By using HuxNovel, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

2. Data We Collect

Information you provide

• Account details: Name, username, email address, password (stored hashed), date of birth, country, and optionally a profile photo and bio.
• Sign in with Google or Apple: If you choose to sign in this way, we receive your name, email address, and account identifier from Google or Apple. We never receive your Google or Apple password.
• Content you create: Stories, chapters, comments, reviews, ratings, and other content you post.
• Author verification (KYC) details: If you apply to earn money as an author, we collect your legal name, date of birth, phone number, contact address, country, government ID type and number, and photos of your ID document. We use automated text recognition on the ID images to check they match the details you entered.
• Payout details: For author withdrawals, your bank account holder name, bank name, account number, SWIFT code, and bank country, or your PayPal email address.
• Communications: Messages, support tickets, and feedback you send us, and an optional WhatsApp number for author support.

Information we collect automatically

• Reading and usage activity: Novels and chapters opened, reading progress, library and bookmarks, check-ins, rewards, and in-app actions.
• Purchase information: Records of coin purchases, VIP subscriptions, and gifts or tips you send to authors (product, amount, time, and transaction ID). Payments in the app are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store; we do not receive or store your card details.
• Device information and identifiers: IP address, device model, operating system, app version, browser type, a push notification token, and your device's advertising identifier (Android advertising ID, or Apple IDFA only if you allow tracking — see section 5).
• Approximate location: We derive your country from your IP address to show region-appropriate content and pricing. We do not collect precise (GPS) location.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

• Create and manage your account and sign you in.
• Provide, maintain, and improve the HuxNovel app and website.
• Deliver purchased coins, VIP benefits, and author gifts, and keep accurate transaction records.
• Verify author identity and process royalty payments and withdrawals.
• Personalise novel recommendations and search results.
• Send push notifications and transactional emails (account activity, new chapters, contracts, payments). You can turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• Show ads that keep reading free (see section 5).
• Respond to support requests and feedback.
• Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

4. Third-Party Services & Sharing

We share data only with the service providers we need to run HuxNovel, and only for the purposes below:

• Google AdMob (advertising): device information, advertising ID, IP address, and ad interaction data. Google Privacy Policy
• Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging for push notifications): push token and device information. Firebase Privacy
• Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple (authentication): only if you choose these sign-in options. Apple Privacy Policy
• Google Play Billing and Apple In-App Purchase (in-app purchases) and RevenueCat (purchase and subscription management): purchase records, transaction IDs, and an app user ID. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
• Stripe (payments made on our website): payment details are entered directly with Stripe. Stripe Privacy Policy
• Amazon Web Services (file storage) and our cloud hosting provider: uploaded files such as profile photos, story covers, and KYC documents, and the data needed to run our servers.
• Email delivery provider: your email address and message content, to send account and transactional emails.

We may also disclose information:

• To legal authorities: Where required by law or court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
• In a business transfer: If HuxNovel is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

Your public profile, published stories, comments, and reviews are visible to other users.

5. Advertising & Advertising ID

The HuxNovel app shows ads served by Google AdMob, including optional rewarded ads that give you coins. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and similar information to show personalised ads and measure ad performance.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, at any time in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device). Where required by law, we ask for your consent before showing personalised ads.

On iPhone and iPad, we only access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) if you allow it through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", you will still see ads, but they will not be personalised using your IDFA. You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

6. Cookies (Website)

On our website we use cookies and similar technologies to:

• Keep you logged in between sessions.
• Remember your reading preferences (font size, dark mode).
• Measure platform performance and user engagement.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect functionality. See our Cookie Policy for details.

7. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. When your account is deleted:

• Your profile, reading history, and other personal data are deleted within 30 days.
• Author verification (KYC) documents and payout details are deleted within 30 days, unless we must keep them longer to meet legal, tax, or anti-fraud obligations.
• Published stories may remain on the platform only where required by an active author contract.
• Financial and transaction records are kept for up to 7 years for legal and tax compliance.

8. Deleting Your Account & Data

You can delete your HuxNovel account and associated data at any time:

• In the app: open your profile, go to settings, and choose Delete account.
• By email: send a deletion request to privacy@novelux.app from the email address registered to your account.

We process deletion requests within 30 days. Data we must keep by law is retained as described in section 7. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Delete your account and associated data.
• Object to or restrict certain processing, including personalised advertising.
• Port your data to another service.
• Withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@novelux.app. We respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

HuxNovel is not directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at privacy@novelux.app and we will delete it.

11. Security

We protect your data with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, restricted access to KYC and payout information, and access controls for our staff. However, no system is completely secure — we encourage you to use a strong password and not share your account credentials.

Our service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you via email or an in-app notice for material changes. Your continued use of HuxNovel after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
